Es éste un libro con el principal objetivo de presentar el estudio neuropsicológico de 83 pacientes, entre 7 y 13 años de edad, todos ellos enfrentados a sus problemas particulares de escolarización. En la neuropsicología clínica de edades escolares, bien puede decirse que la diversidad de trastornos es tal que una publicación de casos se enfrenta inevitablemente al reto de incluirlos en las clasificaciones diagnósticas apropiadas, sobre todo si incluye, como hace este libro, un elevado número de pacientes epilépticos. En el estudio de pacientes de estas edades, en favor de los cuales neurólogos y psicólogos aúnan cada vez más sus esfuerzos, el neuropsicólogo aparece como el especialista de cuyo papel específico van a beneficiarse en definitiva los responsables de la educación. En el libro se encontrarán introducciones teóricas con el fin de explicar el modo de hacer evaluación neuropsicológica, así como para que el lector pueda entender los datos, el perfil neuropsicológico y el juicio diagnóstico que, de forma ordenada, se aportan en cada caso clínico. También se dedican capítulos introductorios a las tres partes del libro en que se presentan los casos, sin que falte el marco conceptual para los trastornos de cada capítulo. Dichos trastornos son presentados, estudiados y comentados aludiendo a sus correspondientes implicaciones neuropsicológicas y educativas. Las referencias bibliográficas permitirán ampliar los aspectos teóricos, si fuese necesario. Un Glosario, al final del libro, ayudará a enfrentarse con éxito a las dificultades terminológicas propias de este campo.
